This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle, This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars, This other Eden, demi-paradise, This fortress built by Nature for herself Against infection and the hand of war, This happy breed of men, this little world, This precious stone set in the silver sea, Which serves it in the office of a wall Or as a moat defensive to a house, Against the envy of less happier lands,-- This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England. ~~William Shakespeare, Richard III

Can't Believe it!!

My little boy is going to be 2 next month!! Where oh where did the time go? It seems like only a few days ago he was just this cheerful little baby who just sat in his bouncy seat laughing at Mickey Mouse. Now he's running all over the house with the Swiffer duster, pulling the bag of Fritos out of the pantry, getting his fingers stuck in the laundry room door, trying to press all the keys on my keyboard, and learning some words and body parts (the picture of the scrapbook page I made about his new words is posted here). He even follows directions pretty well (for a 2 year old of course).

He is such a little blessing! I couldn't have asked for a better little boy to have running around the house. Nothing compares to the feeling I get when I see that little smile peeking at me between his blanket and the mattress in his crib or when he lifts those little arms up to me to be picked up. I can't imagine life without him now. I love seeing how much he's learning and growing even though its sad to know that he's not a little baby anymore.

I look at him and wonder about the world I've brought him in to and what he'll have to grow up in and it worries me. I'm concerned because, besides for a small handful of words, he's really not talking and I know the doctor is going to want to put him in some stupid speech program. I hope the surgery he's just had on his eyes has corrected the problem and we won't have to go through that ever again. I worry that he's not going to have health care because some are trying to take it away from him at the moment (because he's a child you see and can't contribute to the community). I worry about his safety because this country certainly isn't safe at the moment. All I can do is pray that things will work out okay.

20 mth old + Braves' game = bad

Well, not exactly BAD but a waste of money.

Things were fine to start with. Got there, got inside, got some food (Logan loved the french fries, hamburger, and Coke!). That's when the problems started. Took us a few minutes to find which aisle we actually needed to go down to get to our seats (which ended up, of course, being right smack in the middle of the row). We stayed about 2 innings (not that we were expecting to make it all the way through the game anyway) as I didn't want to ruin the game for everyone around us (little man would decide he was bored at any moment and start screaming).

Never take a stroller to a ballpark, even an umbrella one. They get in the way.

20 mth olds don't want to sit in their seats but they love to climb in and out of them continuously.

The space between the rows of seats is way too narrow to function in but a 20 mth old will find a way to sit in all the ick that is on the ground anyway.

20 mth olds don't like the sun in their face and don't like to wear sunglasses. Go figure.

At least we didn't pay much for the tickets.

Why Boys Need Parents (or why you shouldn't let your 20 mth old around your scrapbooking supplies)

I love my son. He is the light of my life.

I love my scrapbooking supplies and I've paid dearly to have them all arranged so neatly on my table. I love just looking at all the stuff I've managed to accumulate over the past 2 years, including the little toolbox with all the drawers which holds all my little brads, eyelets, rhinestones, etc.

That is where I was wrong.

20 mth old boys LOVE toolboxes with little drawers. They love to open and close them. Many, many, times.

Open, close, open, close, peek at mommy to see if she's looking, open...grab as much out of the drawer and run with it!!!

Open, close, open, cl - peek at mommy - yank several drawers out and throw them on the floor!!

Oh what fun!

Little boys are lie metal and scrapbooking supplies are like a magnet. It pulls them right in. There are just so many fun things to get into!! Rub on pens, water pens, sissors, Stickles, ribbon, fun shaped rulers, BRADS, shiny rhinestones, paper that is fun to try to crumple up. It just goes on and on...

That is my battle every day. To keep my child from scattering tons of money's worth of scrapbooking supplies all over my house.

Hopefully I won't find any brads, eyelets, or rhinestones in any *INTERESTING* places (if you know what I mean) ....
