This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle, This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars, This other Eden, demi-paradise, This fortress built by Nature for herself Against infection and the hand of war, This happy breed of men, this little world, This precious stone set in the silver sea, Which serves it in the office of a wall Or as a moat defensive to a house, Against the envy of less happier lands,-- This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England. ~~William Shakespeare, Richard III

New Books on the Way!!

Even though I am still working my way through Penman's Time and Chance about Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine (and enjoying it as I do all of her books) I am super excited about a couple of books I have headed my way!

I have a copy of The First Princess of Wales, a novel about Edward the Black Prince and Joan of Kent, and a copy of Daughter of Time, about Richard III, on their merry way to me from Paperbackswap.com. I have read Princess and I am thrilled to get my hands on a copy and add it to my growing historical fiction collection without having to pay at least $15 for it. Daughter comes highly recommended from readers over at the Goodreads website and I am itching to read it.

I've also been on the lookout for copies of The Seventh Son and Court of the Midnight King, both about Richard III.

  1. I really liked Daughter of Time. Some of the modern day stuff is more dated but it is a fascinating way to read the story.

  2. I have read (and have) all of those R3 novels except for "Court of the Midnight King" -- I'll have to look for that one. Well, I say I don't have it -- I have so many books which I haven't read yet that I actually have to check my bookshelves before I order anything!
